About

Based in Canada and born in South Africa, Shuritta is a self taught artist.
She lives with her husband and two children.
Her work explores the ethereal and powerful beauty of flowers. She uses pastels and powders to create layers on paper canvas, and allows each piece to flow and follow its own journey.
She works on large canvasses as well as smaller pieces.
Much of her inspiration comes from her childhood hunting with her dad in the African veld. She spent hours watching him develop photographs in his dark room.
Her mother is an artist and singer, she has fond memories of watching her create, write songs and playing them on her guitar.
Shuritta’s love of the smells, sights and sounds of nature while observing its obvious but also subtle beauty has expressed itself in the soft tones and curves in her work.
Her art lives between the dreamy and the tactile captivating space of flowers.
