About
Based in Canada and originally from South Africa, Shuritta is a self-taught artist. She lives with her husband and two children. Her work explores our deep connection to the beauty of flowers and landscapes. She works in a variety of mediums from photography, charcoal to pastels and powders building layers on wooden panels, canvas and paper. She allows each piece to flow and follow its own journey, believing in giving space and letting the art tell its own story.
Shuritta creates works entirely from her own photography — cut, layered, and composed by hand into richly textured pieces that live at the intersection of nature, decay, and beauty. Her work is made for collectors, interior designers, and art consultants seeking original, investment-worthy art with a strong visual identity. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and available for acquisition.
Much of her inspiration comes from nature and flowers. Her childhood memories of hunting and fishing with her dad in the South African veld and growing up on an orange farm has had a profound impact on her work. She spent hours watching her dad develop photographs in his darkroom. Her mother, an artist and singer, gave her fond memories of watching her create, write songs, and play guitar.
Shuritta's creative philosophy is that we are ultimately not separate from the beauty of life we seek. The magnificent intelligence of nature lives within us, it appears in the cracks of our lives every day. Our inner landscapes are shaped by these details, if we pay attention and reflect on how they have formed us.
