About

Based in Canada and born in South Africa, Shuritta is a self taught artist.
She lives with her husband and two children.

Her work explores a connection to the beauty of flowers and landscapes. She uses a variety of mediums from photography to pastels and powders to create layers on paper and canvas, and allows each piece to flow and follow its own journey, she believes in giving space and letting the art tell it's story.
She works on both large and smaller canvasses and archival paper.
Much of her inspiration comes from her childhood hunting with her dad in the South African veld. She spent hours watching him develop photographs in his dark room.
Her mother an artist and singer, she has fond memories of watching her create, write songs and playing guitar.
Shuritta's creative philosophy is that we are ultimately not separate from the beauty of life we seek, it is in us, it lives in the cracks of our lives everyday, our inner landscapes being shaped by the details if we pay attention and reflect on how we have been shaped by it.
